A Sculptural Seating Experience Inspired by Engine Propellers

Propella's design is characterized by its light topology, featuring three sculptural legs that hold up its organic body. The chair's sculptural shape and flow are enhanced by the inspiration drawn from the aerodynamic propeller design. The result is a visually striking piece that adds a touch of elegance to any space.

What sets Propella apart is not just its unique design, but also the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into its creation. The chair is crafted with solid oak frame, showcasing the high-quality joinery and expertise of local artisans in Vietnam. The fabric upholstery on the back and the dove feather seating cushion add to the comfort and luxury of the chair.

Measuring at 780mm in width, 845mm in depth, and 1050mm in height, Propella is designed to provide a comfortable and private seating experience. Its high back profile allows users to immerse themselves in their own world while reading a book or working on a laptop.

The design process for Propella involved extensive research and exploration of propeller shapes and forms. The aim was to create an organic topology that not only captures the essence of propellers but also ensures seating comfort and privacy. Overcoming the challenges of translating these organic forms into a viable product required a deep understanding of production techniques and collaboration with skilled craftsmen.

Propella was designed and realized in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, with the project starting in April 2017 and completed in October 2018. The chair is a testament to the fusion of design aesthetics and traditional craftsmanship.

Propella has been recognized for its excellence in design and was awarded the Iron A' Furniture Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate innovation, practicality, and adherence to industry standards. Propella's integration of industry best practices and its ability to provide comfort and fulfillment contribute to a better world.
